GameDay Goes to Tuscaloosa: Alabama Hosts Georgia to Anchor Week 6 After Iowa City

October 09, 2026•7 min read

Saturday's anchor is a posted kickoff in Tuscaloosa. Alabama hosts Georgia at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC. Georgia's athletics site set that clock on Sept. 28. The game is at Bryant-Denny Stadium. College GameDay is set for the same campus. The final is NOT FOUND. The teams have not played.

Gameday Signal is not writing Week 6 as a mood. A forecast is not data. A posted time is data. The signal is the Friday list and the Saturday list. The prior Saturday in Iowa City is context, and it is not the hook.

Ohio State's 31-14 win at Iowa is the closed game from Oct. 3. It was at Kinnick Stadium. The Buckeyes were No. 5 in the school recap. Iowa was No. 14. Both clubs left at 4-1. That final explains why GameDay's last stop is already behind this week. It does not explain who wins at Bryant-Denny.

AL.com reported on Oct. 3 that GameDay chose Tuscaloosa after both clubs had already played that Saturday. Alabama had beaten Mississippi State 56-23. Georgia had beaten Vanderbilt 38-14. The announcement attached No. 7 to Alabama and No. 2 to Georgia. Those digits belong to the Oct. 3 note. A later schedule card printed different ranking digits and left the kickoff blank. This file keeps the Georgia athletics clock and does not adopt the blank card. The show window in the AL.com report runs from 9 a.m. to noon ET. The report lists ESPN. It also lists ESPNU. It also lists Disney+ with the ESPN App.

The desk for that show, as named in the same report, is a posting and not a prediction from this page. Rece Davis is the host. Kirk Herbstreit is on the desk. Desmond Howard is on the desk. Pat McAfee is on the desk. Nick Saban is on the desk. Pete Thamel is listed with the show. Stanford Steve Coughlin is listed with the show. Jen Lada is listed. Jess Sims is listed. None of those names is a final.

Friday, Oct. 9, is the first block of Week 6 times that conferences have released. Florida State visits Louisville at 7:00 p.m. ET on ESPN. On3 and the FBS schedule list agree on that window. The Friday final is NOT FOUND.

Iowa visits Washington at 9:00 p.m. ET. The television posting is FOX or FS1, so this note does not pick one. The ESPN schedule card places the game at Husky Stadium. Iowa comes out of the 31-14 loss. Washington's Week 5 final is NOT FOUND in the material for this draft, so no Washington record is printed. Friday's final is NOT FOUND.

Wyoming visits San Jose State at 9:00 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network. Washington State visits Utah State at 9:00 p.m. ET on The CW. Iowa State visits BYU at 10:15 p.m. ET on ESPN. Each of those three Friday games is a posted start. Each final is NOT FOUND. They are separate kicks, not one combined result.

Saturday, Oct. 10, starts with a noon group that still has a few flex windows. North Carolina at Pittsburgh is posted at noon on ESPN or ESPN2. Wake Forest at NC State is posted at noon on The CW. UCF at Oklahoma State is posted at noon on ESPN or ESPN2. Arizona at West Virginia is posted at noon on TNT and truTV. Indiana at Nebraska is posted at noon on FOX. South Carolina at Florida is posted at noon or 12:45 p.m. ET on ABC or SEC Network. Texas A&M at Missouri carries the same noon or 12:45 p.m. ET flex on ABC or SEC Network. Where a release prints two possible clocks, both stay in the sentence. Picking one would invent a start.

Ball State visits Northwestern at 12:30 p.m. ET on Big Ten Network. That is the next posted start after the noon group. The final is NOT FOUND.

The 3:30 p.m. ET group is the middle of the day. Stanford visits Notre Dame on NBC. Duke visits Georgia Tech on ESPN2 or ACC Network. Virginia Tech visits California on ESPN2 or ACC Network. Houston visits Kansas State on FOX. UCLA visits Oregon on CBS. Illinois visits Michigan State on FS1. Texas and Oklahoma meet in Dallas on ABC. Ole Miss visits Vanderbilt on ESPN. Each of those is 3:30 p.m. ET in the On3 release and the matching FBS schedule list. Each final is NOT FOUND. The Dallas game is a posted rivalry kickoff. It is not a score.

Maryland visits Ohio State at 4:15 p.m. ET on Big Ten Network. Ohio State's site uses that same clock for the homecoming game at Ohio Stadium. The series history on that site is a 9-0 Buckeye mark, with 5-0 in Columbus. Saturday's final is NOT FOUND. Tennessee visits Arkansas at 4:15 p.m. ET on SEC Network. That final is NOT FOUND.

The night group is why Tuscaloosa is the anchor and not the only game. LSU visits Kentucky at 7:00 p.m. ET on ESPN. Syracuse visits Virginia at 7:30 p.m. ET on ACC Network. Georgia at Alabama is 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC. USC visits Penn State at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC. Minnesota visits Purdue at 8:00 p.m. ET on Big Ten Network. Four night kicks sit on the same Saturday. Only one of them is the GameDay site. None of them has a final in this file.

The late window is still just a clock. Kansas visits Utah at 10:15 p.m. ET on ESPN. Hawaii visits Arizona State at 10:30 p.m. ET on FS1. Both finals are NOT FOUND.

A reader can audit the day without a winner. Friday has five posted games in this file. Saturday has a noon cluster. It also has the 12:30 p.m. ET game. It also has the 3:30 p.m. ET cluster. Two games are posted at 4:15 p.m. ET. The night kicks follow those. Two late kicks follow the night. Games that were not on the On3 conference release or the matching schedule list are NOT FOUND here. Leaving them off is cleaner than borrowing a ranking number from a card that could not print a kickoff.

The Iowa City box still matters as a boundary. Sayin and Smith produced the 31-14 final, and that story belongs to the Monday file from the other publication as well as to the school site. This Friday note does not rebuild the drive list. It uses one score so Week 6 has a last closed GameDay game behind it. The next GameDay game is Alabama against Georgia. The score cell for that game stays empty.

Film from Kinnick can show why a road club won by 17. It cannot show a snap from Bryant-Denny that has not happened. Specialists can watch the 56-23 tape and the 38-14 tape from the Saturday before the announcement. Those tapes are evidence of what already occurred. They are not a script for 7:30 p.m. ET.

The signal on Friday is the destination. Tuscaloosa. Saturday. 7:30 p.m. ET. ABC. Bryant-Denny. GameDay from 9 a.m. to noon ET. Every other kickoff above is a time on the same weekend. None of them is a result. If a score appears before the game is played, it did not come from this file.

The Kinnick clubs are on this Week 6 board at different hours from the anchor. Iowa plays Friday night in Seattle. Ohio State plays Saturday at 4:15 p.m. ET in Columbus. Alabama and Georgia play at 7:30 p.m. ET. A reader can hold all three clocks without mixing the games. The 31-14 final is behind Iowa and behind Ohio State. It is not behind Alabama. It is not behind Georgia. Those two clubs bring the 56-23 final and the 38-14 final into Tuscaloosa. They do not bring a result against each other.

Flex windows are part of the data, not a hole to fill. South Carolina at Florida can be noon or 12:45 p.m. ET. Texas A&M at Missouri carries the same kind of flex. Several ACC games can move from one network to another inside a posted pair. This note repeats the pair when the release printed a pair. It does not choose. Choosing would be a forecast about a television assignment, and a forecast is not data.

The Tuscaloosa News, in its Oct. 3 report on the GameDay decision, named other Saturday options the show could have taken. One was the Texas and Oklahoma meeting in Dallas. One was UCLA at Oregon. One was Indiana at Nebraska. Those games remain on the board at the times above. GameDay's choice of Tuscaloosa does not remove them. It only tells a reader where the morning show will be. The night show is still ABC at 7:30 p.m. ET, and the score is still NOT FOUND.
