Week 3 Closed in Rio and Denver: Monday Night Opens in Chicago
Week 3 has a closed Sunday board and an open Monday clock. Rio is a final. Denver is a final. Chicago is a posted kickoff, and this file does not give it a score.
Gameday Signal is not writing the week as a mood. A forecast is not data. A posted time is data. The finals below are the finals printed on the ESPN Week 3 scoreboard. The Monday entry on that same board was still a kickoff card.
Thursday at Lambeau is already a final
Atlanta beat Green Bay 35-14 on Thursday, Sept. 24, at Lambeau Field. ESPN's quarter row for the Falcons reads 7 in the first quarter and 10 in the second. The second half on that row reads 7 and then 11. Green Bay's row reads 7 in the first quarter and 0 in the second. The second half reads 0 and then 7.
ESPN listed Bijan Robinson at 29 carries for 194 yards. The same card gave him two touchdowns. Drake London was listed at 9 receptions for 194 yards. Jordan Love was listed at 28 of 53 for 312 yards. The scoreboard gave Love two touchdowns.
Packers.com filed the night as the end of 13 straight home-opener wins. The site called it the first home-opener loss since 2013. CBS printed both clubs at 1-2 after the game. CBS also reported that Michael Penix Jr. was back at quarterback for Atlanta, and that Atlanta finished with 242 rushing yards to Green Bay's 17.
CBS described the last Atlanta touchdown as a 2-yard run by Robinson, with a successful two-point try, to make the final 35-14. That is a filed result. It is not a Thursday preview. The preview week for this game is already gone.
Rio closed at 34-31
Baltimore beat Dallas 34-31 on Sunday, Sept. 27, in Rio de Janeiro. The ESPN recap placed the game at the Maracana and listed an announced crowd of 72,792. Baltimore's quarter row reads 7 and then 10 before the half. The second half reads 7 and then 10. Dallas reads 10 and then 3 before the half. After the half the Dallas row reads 8 and then 10.
The ESPN recap says Brandon Aubrey's 23-yard field goal tied the game at 31 with 7 seconds left. It says Lamar Jackson then completed a 27-yard pass to Zay Flowers and called a timeout with 1 second left. Tyler Loop's 56-yard field goal won it. The Ravens were printed at 2-1 on the final card. The Cowboys were printed at 1-2.
Dak Prescott was listed at 25 of 40 for 276 yards. The card gave him one touchdown. J. Williams was listed at 19 carries for 98 yards, with one touchdown on the card. CeeDee Lamb was listed at 7 receptions for 112 yards. Those are the posted numbers. They are not a mood about the trip.
The international site is part of the file because the scoreboard named it. Rio is not a nickname for a domestic window. It is the place the 34-31 final happened.
Denver closed at 30-26
Denver beat the Los Angeles Rams 30-26 on Sunday night. The Rams' quarter row reads 7 and then 9. The second half reads 0 and then 10. Denver's row reads 0 and then 0 before the half. The second half reads 16 and then 14. ESPN's board described a 16-point deficit that Denver erased. A separate ESPN clip title said the Broncos intercepted Matthew Stafford on the final play.
Stafford was listed at 30 of 55 for 390 yards. The card gave him two touchdowns. K. Williams was listed at 15 carries for 88 yards. Davante Adams was listed at 7 receptions for 137 yards. Denver was printed at 2-1. The Rams were printed at 1-2.
Sunday night is closed. The next national kickoff on this desk's clock is Monday in Chicago, and it is not the same game.

Monday night is a clock, not a final
Philadelphia at Chicago is posted for Monday, Sept. 28, at 8:15 p.m. ET. ESPN and ABC have the window. The ESPN scoreboard placed the game at Soldier Field in Chicago. The Monday card printed the Eagles at 2-0 and the Bears at 1-1. Those figures are the records on the card before a final. They are not a result of Monday's game.
This piece does not print a Philadelphia total. It does not print a Chicago total. One fetch of the Monday card showed player notes without a final score, so those notes are left out. A number without a final is not a final.
The useful Monday file is the hour and the site. The networks are ESPN and ABC. 8:15 p.m. ET. Soldier Field. The rest is the game, and the game is not in this file.
What this piece refuses
It refuses to treat Thursday's Lambeau final as a tease. That game is a final on the scoreboard. It refuses to turn Rio into a travel essay when the 34-31 final is the fact. It refuses to borrow Denver's comeback and spend it on a guess about Chicago.
It refuses a Week 2 rewrite. Last Monday is not this Monday. The assignment is the Week 3 board that is actually posted, plus the one kickoff that is still ahead.
A reader who wants the Chicago result can come back when the scoreboard prints one. Until then the Signal stops at 8:15 p.m. ET.
