Week 4 Closed in Charlotte: Monday Night Opens in New Orleans

October 05, 2026•8 min read

Sunday night in Charlotte is a filed final. Carolina beat Detroit 32-26 at Bank of America Stadium. The posted kickoff was 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC. Monday night is a different entry on the board. Atlanta at New Orleans is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET on ESPN at Caesars Superdome. That final is NOT FOUND. The game has not been played.

Gameday Signal is not writing the week as a mood. The signal is the posted clock and the filed result. A forecast is not data. A posted time is data. The noise is any guess about a game that is still on the schedule.

Carolina and Detroit both sit at 2-2 after the Sunday night game. Detroit's quarters read 3 then 13 then 3 then 7. Carolina's quarters read 7 then 9 then 13 then 3. The NFL game summary lists the start at 8:23 p.m. ET. Attendance is listed at 73,436. Carolina held the ball for 33:15. Detroit held it for 26:45.

The scoring file from the box is a sequence, not a mood. Jake Bates opened with a 54-yard kick and Detroit led 3-0. Chuba Hubbard scored from 15 yards and Ryan Fitzgerald added the kick, so the board read 3-7. Bates hit from 43 yards and it was 6-7. Tetairoa McMillan caught a 32-yard pass from Bryce Young. The kick after that score did not go through, and Carolina led 13-6. Jahmyr Gibbs scored from 1 yard. Bates kicked, and the game was tied at 13.

Fitzgerald then hit from 47 yards and Carolina led 16-13. Bates answered from 41 yards as the half ended, and the teams went to the break tied at 16. McMillan caught a 10-yard pass from Young in the third quarter. The kick failed again, and Carolina led 22-16. Bates hit from 26 yards to make it 19-22. Hubbard scored from 2 yards. Fitzgerald kicked, and Carolina led 29-19. Fitzgerald added a 33-yard kick in the fourth quarter for a 32-19 Carolina lead. Sam LaPorta caught an 8-yard pass from Jared Goff with the kick good, and the final stayed 32-26.

Young completed 29 of 41 passes for 329 yards with two scores, both to McMillan. McMillan finished with 14 catches for 192 yards. Hubbard carried 20 times for 122 yards with two scores. Goff completed 32 of 52 passes for 412 yards with the one score to LaPorta. Those are the box counts. They are not a projection for the next kickoff.

Monday's game stays on the schedule side of the file. The ESPN board lists the Falcons at 1-2 and the Saints at 1-2 before that kickoff. The away split on that board shows Atlanta at 1-1. The home split shows New Orleans at 0-1. None of those marks include a Monday result. The winner is NOT FOUND. The score is NOT FOUND. Writing one would invent a game that ESPN still lists as upcoming at 8:15 p.m. ET.

The rest of the Sunday board is already final, and it belongs in the same file as Charlotte. Week 4 did not have a bye. The Thursday game is already on a prior file and is not restaged here. What follows is the Sunday list only.

London opened the Sunday slate at 9:30 a.m. ET on NFL Network. Indianapolis and Washington played at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The Colts won 30-13. Indianapolis quarters read 0 then 10 then 10 then 10. Washington quarters read 6 then 0 then 7 then 0. The Colts are 2-2. The Commanders are 1-3. Jonathan Taylor carried 20 times for 95 yards with two scores.

The early window in the United States then produced a stack of finals. New England won at Buffalo 29-26. Patriot quarters read 7 then 7 then 7 then 8. Bills quarters read 0 then 17 then 0 then 9. New England is 2-2. Buffalo is 3-1. Drake Maye completed 22 of 37 passes for 269 yards with three scores. James Cook carried 12 times for 75 yards with one score. Keon Coleman caught 6 passes for 116 yards with one score.

Chicago beat the Jets 23-12 at home. Bear quarters read 7 then 6 then 7 then 3. Jet quarters read 0 then 3 then 3 then 6. Chicago is 3-1. New York is 1-3. Tyson Bagent completed 25 of 34 passes for 268 yards with one interception. Kyle Monangai carried 30 times for 146 yards with two scores. Rome Odunze caught 6 passes for 94 yards.

Jacksonville won at Cincinnati 22-17. Jaguar quarters read 3 then 10 then 3 then 6. Bengal quarters read 0 then 3 then 7 then 7. Jacksonville is 3-1. Cincinnati is 2-2. Joe Burrow completed 39 of 54 passes for 428 yards with one score. Tee Higgins caught 11 passes for 157 yards. Bhayshul Tuten carried 17 times for 73 yards.

The Giants beat Arizona 36-24. Giant quarters read 3 then 16 then 8 then 9. Cardinal quarters read 14 then 3 then 7 then 0. New York is 3-1. Arizona is 1-3. Jameis Winston completed 18 of 29 passes for 250 yards with three scores. Malik Nabers caught 6 passes for 112 yards with one score. Jordan Love of Arizona carried 14 times for 63 yards. That rushing name is the back on the scoreboard, not the Green Bay passer.

The Rams won at Philadelphia 24-20. Ram quarters read 3 then 7 then 0 then 14. Eagle quarters read 3 then 17 then 0 then 0. Both clubs are 2-2. Matthew Stafford completed 32 of 51 passes for 317 yards with two interceptions. Kyren Williams carried 16 times for 80 yards with two scores. Puka Nacua caught 9 passes for 125 yards.

Green Bay won at Tampa Bay 17-14. Packer quarters read 0 then 10 then 7 then 0. Buccaneer quarters read 0 then 7 then 0 then 7. Green Bay is 2-2. Tampa Bay is 0-4. Jordan Love completed 22 of 30 passes for 197 yards with two scores. Bucky Irving carried 16 times for 61 yards. Christian Watson caught 3 passes for 47 yards. Thursday of Week 5 sends Tampa Bay to Dallas. That kickoff is a later note. It is not a result in this file.

Baltimore beat Tennessee 24-18. Raven quarters read 7 then 17 then 0 then 0. Titan quarters read 7 then 0 then 3 then 8. Baltimore is 3-1. Tennessee is 0-4. Lamar Jackson completed 15 of 20 passes for 222 yards with two scores. Derrick Henry carried 23 times for 73 yards with one score. Carnell Tate caught 9 passes for 145 yards.

Dallas won at Houston 34-30. Cowboy quarters read 3 then 3 then 14 then 14. Texan quarters read 10 then 6 then 7 then 7. Dallas is 2-2. Houston is 0-4. C.J. Stroud completed 21 of 31 passes for 347 yards with two scores. Javonte Williams carried 19 times for 62 yards with three scores. CeeDee Lamb caught 17 passes for 189 yards with one score.

Minnesota beat Miami 15-10. Viking quarters read 3 then 6 then 3 then 3. Dolphin quarters read 0 then 0 then 10 then 0. Minnesota is 4-0. Miami is 0-4. Kyler Murray completed 27 of 37 passes for 247 yards. Ollie Gordon II carried 9 times for 100 yards with one score. T.J. Hockenson caught 13 passes for 119 yards.

Kansas City won at Las Vegas 30-27. Chief quarters read 7 then 3 then 0 then 20. Raider quarters read 7 then 6 then 0 then 14. Kansas City is 4-0. Las Vegas is 3-1. Kirk Cousins completed 31 of 52 passes for 365 yards with two scores. Kenneth Walker III carried 22 times for 177 yards with two scores. Tyquan Thornton caught 5 passes for 111 yards with two scores.

San Francisco beat Denver 24-14. Niner quarters read 0 then 3 then 7 then 14. Bronco quarters read 3 then 0 then 0 then 11. San Francisco is 4-0. Denver is 2-2. Brock Purdy completed 19 of 30 passes for 218 yards with two scores. Christian McCaffrey carried 15 times for 52 yards with one score. A receiving row on the public scoreboard card was not clearly tied to a San Francisco pass catcher in the scrape used here, so that row is NOT FOUND and is left off the file.

Seattle beat the Chargers 30-23. Seahawk quarters read 7 then 13 then 10 then 0. Charger quarters read 3 then 3 then 7 then 10. Seattle is 3-1. Los Angeles is 0-4. Jaxon Smith-Njigba caught 5 passes for 76 yards. The passing row and the rushing row on that same card did not print a player name in the fetch used here. Those two rows are NOT FOUND and are not assigned to anyone.

That is the Sunday final list. Fourteen games. One score each. No Monday number attached to any of them.

The useful split for a reader is simple. Charlotte is closed. New Orleans is open on the schedule and closed to invention. Falcons at Saints, 8:15 p.m. ET, ESPN, Caesars Superdome. If a later briefing prints a winner, that winner has to come from a played game. It cannot come from this note.

Film study can wait for the Monday tape. The data available at filing time is the Sunday box and the Monday clock. Carolina's night is the proof that a close game can be written only after the last snap. Detroit still scored in the fourth quarter. Carolina still finished ahead by six. That sentence is allowed because both numbers are on the final board.

Nothing in this file sets a Week 5 result. Tampa Bay's trip to Dallas is a posted Thursday kickoff on a later date. Baltimore's trip to Atlanta is a posted Sunday night kickoff. Both stay off this page as results. They are named here only so a reader does not confuse them with the Sunday board that is already complete.

The signal is the list. The noise is a final that does not exist yet. Monday night in New Orleans stays blank until the game is played.
